John Hewitt is a lifelong aviation enthusiast. He worked as an engineer with British Airways for thirty years. He has been involved in the mapping of Second World War crash sites in Northern Ireland and spent a lot of time interviewing surviving fighter pilots from all over Ireland. He is originally from Portadown and now lives in Islandmagee, County Antrim. He is the author of Ireland's Aviator Hereos of World War II. His most recent book is Ireland's Aviator Heroes of World War II volume II.
