She was the winner of Mercier's 'Search for an Illustrator' competition to illustrate this book.

Author

Patricia Lynch (4 June 1894–1 September 1972) was born in Cork and became the author of some 48 novels and 200 short stories. She was arguably the finest children’s writer Ireland has ever produced. She is best known for blending Irish rural life and fantasy fiction as in The Turf-Cutter’s Donkey which was illustrated by Jack B. Yeats.

Sara Baker lives in Baltimore in West Cork. She has been illustrating for as long as she can remember and was shortlisted for the 2008 Original Voices Children`s Picture Book Award. She was the winner of Mercier’s ‘Search for an Illustrator’ competition to illustrate this book.

Frances Josephine Boland née Kelly, was an Irish painter. She is known for being the wife of Frederick Boland, an Irish diplomat who served as the United Nations representative for Ireland. By the age of twenty-seven, when she married, she had attained prominence as a painter.
