Bob Boland was born Michael Valentine Boland in Farnastack in County Kerry in 1888 and died there in 1955. He was affectionately nicknamed Bob. Loved as a storyteller and practical joker, he enjoyed playing Lord of the Manor. To the merriment of his friends and neighbours he assumed the mock-ascendancy title Sir Robert Leslie Boland Bart.
