Senan Molony was born in Dublin in August 1963 and is married with two children. He has worked as a journalist with Irish Press, Evening Herald, The Star and Irish Independent. His previous books are: Celtic Mists (Phoenix. 1987) and A Ship Accused (Cedric, 2002). His interest in The Titanic and naval history stems from his maternal uncle, Cmmdr Michael Ryan RN, OBE, who was sunk twice in the Second World War, surviving for a fortnight in an open boat in the South China Sea, and a paternal uncle, Lt-Cmmdr Liam Molony, who became Flag Officer of the Irish Naval Service. Married with three children and living in Dublin, he regulary gives lecturers on the Titanic's maiden voyage.
