Beckett, Mary

Mary Beckett was born in Belfast in 1926 and worked as a teacher before moving to Dublin on her marriage.

Some of her early short stories were published in The Bill and other journals but her first collection, A Belfast Woman was published in Dublin in 1980. She has written two acclaimed novels, Give Them Stones and A Literary Woman, and several books for children.
